Despite the growth Brownsburg has experienced in the past few years, it still retains its small town feel. You’ll see tractors in the Fourth of July parade, and pride in the schools here is so deep that all the street signs have the bulldog mascot emblazoned on them. Quaint, right?
This western Indy suburb is growing though. With more than 25,000 residents, the population has grown about 60 percent since 2000. As such, much of the housing stock is newer, and you’ll find quite a bit of new construction as builders work to meet the demand for Brownsburg homes. Most homes are priced in the $100s, $200s and $300s, while a few subdivisions have price points in the $400s and $500s. You can also find larger lots in Brownsburg if you prefer to spread out.
Brownsburg Community Schools are among the best in the state, with every school earning an “A” since 2012. Along with academics, Brownsburg schools are known for their athletics, school spirit and parental involvement.
For recreation, Brownsburg citizens have enjoyed Arbuckle Acres for more than 50 years. This 68-acre park features paved trails, a large playground, baseball diamonds, tennis courts and several shelters on the banks of White Lick Creek. The B&O rail trail is also popular for running, biking and dog-walking and extends several miles to the west of town. It will eventually run through Hendricks County and planners would like to see it extend across the entire state!
All in all, Brownsburg offers a nice quality of life in a small-town atmosphere that’s complemented by all the amenities nearby Indianapolis has to offer.
