No longer a sleepy town, rapidly growing Fishers has built a reputation for being a vibrant, entrepreneurial city with a great quality of life.

Fishers, Indiana Central Green

Fishers Central Green

Once a tiny railroad station with just a handful of inhabitants, Fishers has exploded in growth over the past 30 years, and continues to grow thanks to a comprehensive economic development strategy. With about 80,000 residents, Fishers is very livable with its subdivisions and small, walkable downtown, which includes high-density housing, retail, restaurants and offices.

The homeownership rates hovers around 82 percent, and Fishers offers a wide variety of homes at all price points, including starter homes in the low- to mid-$100,000s. East of I-69, the area surrounding Geist Reservoir is popular, and luxury waterfront homes and the lake lifestyle impart cachet.

The public school system, Hamilton Southeastern, is among the best in the state. While Fishers’ top employers include corporations like Navient, Roche Diagnostics and ADT, the city has been very active in promoting itself as a community supportive of techie start-ups.
