Carmel, IN—May 16, 2011—Indy Homes Team founder Kristie Smith was awarded the title “Woman of the Year” Saturday by the Indiana chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Smith, vying with eight other candidates, raised more than $60,000 over a nine-week period to best her four female competitors. Scott Shepherd of ExactTarget was named Man of the Year. In total, the nine candidates raised more than $280,000 for LLS.
“I am incredibly honored to have earned this distinction from the Leukemia Society,” said Smith. “But more importantly, I am grateful to have participated with my eight counterparts to raise so much money for such a deserving cause. Smith now advances to the national LLS Woman of the Year competition, in which she’ll compete with local winners from all over the U.S. for the national Woman of the Year title.
