Indy Homes Realtor Kristie Smith Earns MIBOR’s F.C. “Bud” Tucker Community Service Award

Indianapolis, IN — January 23, 2012 — Indy Homes Realtor Kristie Smith received the F.C. “Bud” Tucker Community Service Award at the annual Metropolitan Indianapolis Board of REALTORS (MIBOR) ball, held Saturday.

Smith was recognized for her philanthropic efforts outside the real estate industry, particularly for her work on behalf of the Indiana chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. In May, Smith was named Woman of the Year by the Society after raising more than $60,000 for the philanthropic organization over a nine-week period, besting four other female competitors.

Kristie Smith wins Tucker Community Service Award“I appreciate being recognized for my volunteerism and philanthropic work within the Indianapolis community. It is a great honor,” said Smith. “But I truly enjoy contributing and giving back to the community that has given me so much. The personal satisfaction I get from this work is my greatest reward.”

Smith also serves on the board of directors for the Reach Foundation, a non-profit organization that is dedicated to inspiring hope in those who are less fortunate. The foundation encourages entrepreneurs and business people to give of their time and financial resources by persuading them to re-evaluate their priorities. A member of Traders Point Christian Church, Smith is also active in the United Way of Central Indiana.

MIBOR recognized industry and community service top performers at its annual ball as part of the organization’s Centennial Celebration. During the event, more than 500 members and guests celebrated MIBOR’s significance in central Indiana for the last 100 years, while honoring local real estate professionals who made a positive impact in 2011.

The FC “Bud” Tucker Community Service Award is presented to a MIBOR member who has made a direct impact on the community outside of real estate, helping to build a positive image for the real estate industry. While applications for the award are accepted every year, it is only awarded as merited by an outstanding candidate.
