Indianapolis, IN — May 31, 2018 — Seven years after being named “Woman of the Year” by the Indiana chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Indy Homes Team founder and CEO Kristie Smith once again raised more than $60,000 as the Indianapolis representative in the national 2018 All-Star Alumni National Man & Woman of the Year campaign.
During the 10-week fundraising campaign, Smith represented two children, Jillian and Maddox. Jillian was diagnosed with leukemia in December 2011. She is in remission, but suffers from neurological, orthopedic and behavioral issues due to her chemotherapy. Maddox was diagnosed in October 2015 and will complete his nearly 3.5 years of treatment in January 2019.
Smith was one of 13 Woman of the Year Alumni candidates across the country “competing” for the National title.
“The Leukemia & Leukemia Society envisions a world without blood cancers. For many years, this vision has been close to my heart, and I’m proud to have supported such a noble cause. To help kids like Jillian and Maddox and their families is truly a blessing,” she said. “A big thank you to my many generous donors for their support throughout this campaign. It is appreciated so very much.”
The funds raised though the annual LLS Man and Woman of the Year campaigns are used for:
